What are the gate hours?

The grounds are open daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Closing time changes with the season — the gates close earlier through the winter months. Any change is posted on the homepage and on the gate itself.

How do I find where someone is buried?

Our full burial register is searchable online. Visit Find a Grave and search by name; each record shows the section and, where known, the lot and space. If you can't find a record you expect to be here, contact the office — the ledger holds more than has been transcribed, and we're glad to look.

Who is eligible to be buried here?

Burial is open to residents of the community and to their families, wherever they now live. A family connection to the area is enough. If you're unsure whether your family qualifies, please get in touch — the trustees would rather talk it through than have you wonder.

How do I request or reserve a plot?

You can begin on the Plan a Burial page, either by using the plot-request form or by calling the office. A trustee will help you choose a plot and confirm the allocation. Many families reserve a plot well ahead of any need, and there's a quiet kindness in doing so.

What does a plot cost?

The cemetery keeps its fees as low as it can — it earns nothing for anyone. The current fee schedule is available from the office on request; please contact the trustees and we'll send it to you.

Can I plant flowers or place decorations on a grave?

Yes — families are welcome to tend their own plots. There are a few sensible rules about what may be planted and what must be kept clear so the grounds crew can mow safely. The full rules are in our resource library; when in doubt, ask the sexton.

What kind of headstone or marker is allowed?

Most upright and flush markers are permitted, though some sections have specific guidelines on size and material. Before ordering a marker, please review the Monument & Marker Guidelines in the resource library or check with the office.

I found an error in a burial record. What should I do?

Please tell us. The register is a living document, transcribed by volunteers, and we would always rather hear from you than leave it wrong. You can submit a correction from the Contact page, and a trustee will review it.

Is the cemetery a business?

No. Oakhaven Cemetery is a non-profit cemetery association, held in trust and overseen by a volunteer Board of Trustees. It has no owners and earns nothing for anyone; the grounds are kept through plot fees and the generosity of the care fund.

How can I help?

In more ways than you might think — by joining a volunteer work day, by serving as a trustee, or by supporting the care fund that keeps the grounds. Every bit of it goes back into the place.
